A new vigor and sharper focus in the government's drive to assure the land tenure and housing security of the homeless underprivileged are expected to come about with the creation of the Social Housing Finance Corporation (SHFC).

Consistent with the pro-poor thrusts and initiatives of the administration of Pres. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, the institution of SHFC has elevated to a higher plane the government's efforts to help the low-income sectors of our population in realizing their dream of homeownership. We now have a separate government instrumentality dedicated to the social housing concerns of the low-end family beneficiaries.

Through SHFC, we have strengthened the institutional housing framework and delivery system for the marginal-income earners both from the formal and informal sectors.
And as we strive to meet their basic housing requirement, we are in fact bringing them into the economic mainstream, especially the informal settlers, so that they may not only enjoy the fruits of urban development but also take pleasure of a more secured future. With this, they may be enabled to participate more in building the country and to contribute their just share in national economic development and upliftment of the welfare of all Filipinos.

We hope to reach out to all the social housing stakeholders through this website, so that there may evolve an integrated growth and development in this special housing concern through the joining efforts and resources for those who need housing assistance most.
